What true beadlocks are, why forged beats cast, and how to spec a set for your build.
A true beadlock wheel uses a bolted outer clamp ring that physically locks the tyre bead to the rim. That lets you run ultra-low tyre pressures off-road for maximum traction without the tyre rolling off the wheel. Every Dakar Forged wheel is a true beadlock — the ring is functional, not cosmetic.
A simulated (sim-bead) wheel only mimics the look with a decorative bolted ring, while the tyre is held by air pressure alone. A true beadlock mechanically clamps the tyre bead between the rim and the outer ring with grade-rated hardware, so the tyre stays seated even at very low pressures under hard off-road use.
Forged wheels are pressed from a solid aluminium billet under thousands of tonnes of pressure, which aligns and compresses the metal's grain structure. Dakar Forged wheels are monoblock forged from 6061-T6 billet — dramatically stronger and lighter than cast alloy wheels of the same size.
